Marie was Regional Adviser for Communication, Language and Literacy Development (CLLD) for the National Strategies in the North East and North Yorkshire from 2008 to 2011; and has a successful track record in leading developments to improve practice and standards in schools. She has extensive leadership experience as Deputy Head teacher in the Middle East, as a Primary Strategy Consultant, CLLD Consultant and Key Stage One Moderation Manager. In her role as a lead teacher for the Inclusion Development Service in Redcar and Cleveland she implemented targeted intervention programmes for schools and as a Reading Recovery Teacher she delivered training in Early Literacy. As a skilled trainer of adults Marie has delivered numerous courses to professionals. Her extensive knowledge, experience and passion for the teaching of reading and the crucial importance of phonics, inspires and empowers excellent classroom practice.
